We are pleased to announce that glyXera has received a grant to invest in improving energy efficiency in our company in Magdeburg, Germany. The grant is awarded under the Sachsen-Anhalt ENERGIE funding program, which is supported by the European Regional Development Fund in cooperation with the state of Saxony-Anhalt. With this funding program the state of Saxony-Anhalt supports companies in projects to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

The core of glyXera’s glycoanalytical instrumentation consists of multi-capillary DNA sequencers that have been glyconeered to the highest glycoanalytical standards by us. Supported by this funding program, our sequencers—originally equipped with outdated argon lasers—were now further upgraded with modern 488nm diode lasers. These new diode lasers are extraordinarily energy-saving, generate hardly any waste heat or exhaust air, and have an extremely long operational lifetime.

The measure results in energy savings of 5,956 kWh (equivalent to 4.36 t CO2) per year – this corresponds to an energy saving of up to 60%!
